Ingredients
- Kofta (Meatballs):
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- Curry Sauce:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp chili powder
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- ½ cup coconut milk or heavy cream
- 1 cup water or broth
- Salt to taste
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, ginger, and spices. Add egg and breadcrumbs, then shape into small meatballs.
2. Heat oil in a pan and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
3. In the same pan, sauté onions until golden, then add garlic, ginger, and spices. Stir until fragrant.
4. Pour in diced tomatoes, coconut milk, and water. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
5. Return the meatballs to the pan, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
