- Chicken Marinade:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp ground turmeric
- ½ tsp salt
- Butter Chicken Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp ground coriander
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup water or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar
- ¼ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Mix yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, and spices for the marinade. Coat the chicken and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat a pan over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken until browned and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
- Add spices, tomato puree, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream, broth, honey, and salt. Simmer for 5 more minutes.
- Return chicken to the pan and simmer for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.
